Project: ES Kenya, Siaya

Business Case

The TTGD EcoSociety Kenya Siaya initiative has mobilized 100 local land-owning farmers to engage in sustainable sunflower cultivation and beekeeping across 100 acres. Three multi-stakeholder committee meetings have been held to coordinate efforts among farmers, local administration, elders, and agricultural officers. An agronomist has been appointed, and sunflower seeds valued at KES 100,000 have been secured to support the first planting cycle.

Situated in Siaya County, Kenya — a region with nearly one million residents and a high female population ratio — the project addresses food security and poverty-related challenges. Local gender-based vulnerabilities are linked to poor access to clean water, healthcare, and reliable nutrition. By leveraging the region’s favorable climate and agricultural potential, the project aims to empower rural households, increase edible oil production, and improve economic and nutritional outcomes through sustainable, high-value agriculture.
