A community-centred initiative focused on sustainable agriculture and early education, operating under TTGD Eco Siaya Community Based Organisation since 2024.

THE SITUATION
9. What is the issue you want to address and when did it start?
Poverty and food insecurity due to underutilized rural agricultural potential. Identified in early 2024.
10. What makes this situation an opportunity for advancing womn’s human rights?
High market demand for non-GMO sunflower oil and Kenya's overdependence on imports offers a transformation point. [reference to how this benefits women]

Current edible oil importers and local middlemen.

Agricultural authorities and TTGD Foundation can redirect farmer support through advocacy and farmer guarantees.

Transforms rural economies, empowers women farmers, and addresses food sovereignty.

Initial resistance from existing supply chains, market volatility, and logistical delays.

Engagement of agronomists, extension officers, structured contract farming, and local stakeholder buy-in.

Community support groups, agronomist-led trainings, mental health awareness for farmers and staff.

TTGD's hybrid model combines education, agriculture, and sustainable community structures with local and regional trust.
THE URGENT ACTION/INTERVENTIONS

Provide sunflower seeds, beekeeping materials, training, and establish an oil processing centre. Support market linkages and environmental farming practices.
15. What are the intended outcomes/changes you would like to achieve from your interventions?
(1) 100 acres cultivated
(2) Oil processing facility functional
(3) Income and food security improved for 500+ people.

Favorable weather cycle and availability of hybrid seeds and extension support must be utilized immediately.

Rural women-led households, youth, and elder-led families in Siaya. Including widows and those with no prior access to farming inputs.

PHC Service - governance oversight, reporting, and accountability, PHC support. TTGD Central - logistics, funding channeling, and branding support. Skill-building workshops, mentorship programs, healthcare initiatives, and advocacy campaigns.
