Project:
467
Description:
Violence against women and girls requires a consistently high-quality criminal justice response so that victims feel supported and offenders are prosecuted effectively.
Desired Outcome:
Higher casework quality, stronger victim confidence and better outcomes across sexual violence, domestic abuse, stalking and related offences.
What Could Go Wrong:
Weak case handling or low confidence may reduce engagement, increase attrition and leave repeat offenders active.
Current Situation:
The cross-government VAWG strategy aims to halve violence against women and girls in a decade, and the CPS 2025-2030 strategy focuses on increased casework quality and increased public and victim trust.
Action Strategy:
Track case quality, victim experience and attrition; improve specialist training; and align prosecution practice with trauma-informed evidence-led standards.
