Description:
Desired Outcome:
Either (a) formal reinstatement of the valve before construction progresses too far, or (b) acknowledgment from Client that any future requirement to install the valve will be treated as extra scope under variation claim conditions, with time and cost impact acknowledged in writing.
What Could Go Wrong:
1-Commissioning phase delay due to inadequate pressure relief. 2-Emergency change request under pressure during startup. 3-Safety risk exposure. 4-Significant rework and reinstallation at higher cost. 5-High-value claim with associated dispute if not addressed now.
Current Situation:
Client has verbally confirmed omission of the valve. Original design drawings include the valve; updated IFC drawings not yet issued. No formal instruction yet issued, but site teams are progressing without valve procurement or installation plans. Contractor engineering and procurement teams are on hold pending resolution.
Action Strategy:
1-Log all time and design changes tagged to this concern. 2-Monitor progress of the related pipeline segment and flag when reinstatement becomes physically harder. 3-Request formal confirmation of the instruction in writing. 4-Prepare variation justification package in advance, including original drawings, meeting minutes, and engineer?s recommendations. 5-Encourage supervisors to tag hours and materials under this Concern code.
